Politics of the Imagination: Fiction, Dissent, and the Time of Emancipation in Jacques Rancière

This article aims to address the topic of the politics of the imagination in the philosophy of Jacques Rancière. The hypothesis that we intend to outline in this work maintains that the politics of the imagination is loaded with subversive potential, which allows us to think about the possibility of emancipation as a political project. To this end, we analyze the definition that Rancière provides on the politics of the imagination, taking as its starting point its aesthetic quality. On the other hand, we also analyze the role that the work of fiction and dissent play in the development of the thesis on the time of emancipation. Finally, we present a brief reflection on the political potential of the imagination in the context of research on contemporary political philosophy.
